Dr. Jonathan Berkowitz’s book talk

Please join us this Friday, January 13, 2023 from 10:30AM – 11:30AM for a book talk by UBC Sauder’s very own Dr. Jonathan Berkowitz!
This event will take place in the silent study space (CLC 224) located on the main floor of the David Lam library. Coffee and cookies will be served.
Dr. Berkowitz’s most recent book is Tales From the Word Guy: What Your English Teacher Never Taught You, a collection of essays based on his CBC columns (www.talesfromthewordguy.com). In 2021 he published The Whirl of Words: Puzzling Past and Present, which is both a brief history and a treasury of word puzzles and wordplay (www.thewhirlofwords.com).

Jonathan is a consulting statistician in private practice and a professor at UBC’s Sauder School of Business, where he has taught over 17,000 students, won major teaching awards, and co-authored two editions of a statistics textbook. He has a long and distinguished track record of volunteerism. While numbers are his vocation, words are his avocation. He is the Word Guy on CBC Radio 1’s North by Northwest, and an active member of the National Puzzlers’ League. He also served as the puzzle editor and composer for the American Statistical Association’s CHANCE magazine.
